Private Rooms for Hanwoo in Apgujeong, Seoul: Four Picks
A private room decides a hanwoo dinner long before the beef reaches the grill. It sets who can hear you, how long you can sit, and whether the table works for a client, a family, or a group that needs its own door. In Apgujeong and the blocks immediately around it, those rooms come in very different shapes: a premium sirloin house whose rooms scale from a small party up to a 55-seat rental, a course-driven grill with exactly two of them, a garden compound with a room-only annex and a VIP room that takes one party a day, and a quiet basement dining room in Cheongdam-dong that stops at a dozen seats.
All four sit in the upper price bands, so the useful question is not whether the beef is good. It is what kind of room you are actually booking, how far in advance you have to ask for it, and what each house gets wrong. Those are the terms below, with the caveats copied straight from our research notes rather than smoothed over.
1. Myeong-In Deungsim Apgujeong
Myeong-In Deungsim Apgujeong is an upscale hanwoo (Korean beef) BBQ restaurant on Dosan-daero in Apgujeong/Sinsa, built around a single premium cut, 특등심 (top-grade sirloin), and positioned for business entertaining, family gatherings, and group dining via multiple private rooms .

The most straightforward room booking on this list. Myeong-In Deungsim is a classic premium sirloin house on Dosan-daero, with private rooms confirmed in our current records and a large dining hall alongside them. The rooms scale from small parties up to a 55-seat rental, and booking availability is reported as normal, so this is the one place here where a room is unlikely to be the constraint. Two things to weigh against that. The menu is built almost entirely around one cut, 한우 특등심, so there is little to order around it, and multiple English-language reviews report poor service toward apparent foreign guests, which is worth knowing before you seat a visiting client here.
- A large dining hall plus private rooms of varying sizes, explicitly marketed for both small and large-group bookings.
- Positioned for business entertaining, family gatherings, and group dining via multiple private rooms.
The menu is narrow, built almost entirely around 한우 특등심, so diners wanting many cuts or non-beef options have limited choice. Multiple English-language reviews from 2024-2026 report poor service toward apparent foreign guests. Weekday dinner service has a hard break from 14:30 to 17:00.

2. Hanwumyeon Gaenari Apgujeong Main Branch
한우면 개나리 압구정본점 (also called 개나리회관 압구정본점) is a premium Korean-beef-and-seafood grill in Apgujeong, built around 1++ (no.9) grade hanwoo paired with same-day seafood, run as a course-driven grill house rather than a la carte barbecue joint . The owner-operator himself describes it as a hanwoo-and-seafood specialty restaurant that expanded from a 2018 Sindang-dong original into its current Apgujeong flagship in March 2023 .

The closest pick to Apgujeong center, about two minutes on foot, and the one to aim at for a small private party near Apgujeong Rodeo. It runs as a course-driven grill house rather than an a la carte barbecue joint, built on aged 1++ No.9 hanwoo paired with same-day seafood, in a room a visitor account calls comfortable and the owner describes as colorful yet warm. The catch is arithmetic: there are exactly two private rooms, confirmed in our current records, and reviewers say plainly that you should reserve one ahead rather than turn up hoping. Book by Naver or phone before you build a dinner around it.
- A visitor account notes the interior is quite comfortable with adequate seating and exactly two private rooms that should be reserved ahead.
- The owner's own description confirms a split between main hall and private rooms (개별 룸), calling the interior colorful yet warm.
- Reservations are explicitly recommended for the two private rooms.
Only two private rooms exist, so last-minute room requests may fail; book ahead by Naver or phone. Course pricing is expensive at 89,000 to 109,000 won per person. Much of the online buzz traces to a single February 2025 broadcast placement, so independent critical reviews are limited.

3. Samwon Garden
Samwon Garden is a sprawling, historic Korean-barbecue "garden" compound in Apgujeong/Sinsa (Gangnam) built around a waterfall and koi pond, widely described as one of Seoul's biggest restaurants (capacity cited up to 1,200 guests) and repeatedly invoked by reviewers as a Michelin-listed hanwoo-BBQ institution. Sources disagree on founding date -- English-language write-ups say 1976, a Korean blog says the Apgujeong flagship opened in 1981 as the first restaurant in Korea to use the "가든" (garden) naming concept.

The pick when the gathering is large or ceremonial. 삼원가든 is a long-established hanwoo institution a short walk from Apgujeong, built around a waterfall and koi pond, and repeatedly invoked by reviewers as Michelin-listed. What matters here is which part of it you reserve. The 별채 annex, opened in 2025, is room-only seating with no open hall and a fixed course menu, and the 특실 VIP room takes a single party per day through its own parking entrance. That split is the whole argument for booking a room here: the main hall draws the disputed ventilation and the server-dependent beef, while the course rooms draw the steadier reviews.
- A 2025-opened annex, 별채, is room-only seating with no open hall and a fixed course menu, distinct from the main venue's a la carte format.
- A day-limited 특실 (VIP room) takes only one party per day and uses a separate parking entrance.
- Widely described as one of Seoul's biggest restaurants and repeatedly invoked by reviewers as a Michelin-listed hanwoo BBQ institution.
Main hall ventilation is disputed in 2026 reviews, so booking a room rather than the open hall is strongly preferred. Hanwoo quality in the main hall is server-dependent; the course-menu rooms (별채, 특실) draw more consistent feedback. Pricing is premium, easily $100 or more per person for BBQ, and the 별채 annex requires a fixed course commitment.

4. Hanmiok
Hanmiok (한미옥) is a basement-level, premium Korean beef restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, built around a single signature dish: tableside-cooked 차돌 구절판 (charred beef brisket "gujeolpan"), and marketed as one of Seoul's "3대 차돌맛집" (top-3 beef-brisket restaurants) . It operates as the flagship of a small multi-location group but is consistently treated by visitors as the original/본점 worth seeking out .
85-2 Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea | $$$ | korean
Strictly speaking, this one is in Cheongdam-dong rather than Apgujeong proper, a short ride east instead of a walk. It stays on the list because it sits immediately adjacent and because its room quality is the best documented of the four. The format is different too: a basement-level premium Korean beef restaurant built around one signature dish, tableside-cooked 차돌 구절판, marketed as one of Seoul's top three beef-brisket houses. Reviewers keep describing the atmosphere as quiet and easy to talk in, which is the reason to want a room in the first place. The largest one tops out at a dozen guests, so treat this as a dinner rather than an event.
- Multiple reviewers explicitly call the atmosphere quiet and conducive to conversation, good for dates, family meals, or serious gatherings.
- A Google reviewer confirms Hanmiok claims to be the originator of 차돌 구절판 and praises the 한우 quality as rich, tender, and clearly top-tier.
The address is Cheongdam-dong, immediately east of Apgujeong proper, so it is a short ride rather than strictly inside Apgujeong. The largest room tops out at 12 guests, so it cannot host bigger group events. Mid-afternoon break times apply, roughly 14:30-17:00 on weekdays and 15:00-17:00 on weekends.

If a room is the only fixed requirement, Myeong-In Deungsim is the least complicated booking and the one that scales, Hanwumyeon Gaenari is the best fit for a small private party closest to Apgujeong Rodeo, Samwon Garden is built for the large or ceremonial night, and Hanmiok is the quietest table if a twelve-seat cap works and the short ride to Cheongdam does not bother you.
One process note that applies to all four. Reserve the room specifically, by Naver booking, Catchtable, or phone, instead of asking for it when you arrive. At all four, the room is the part of the booking to name first.
