First Date Restaurants in Seoul: 4 Low Pressure Picks
A first date in Seoul is mostly a room problem. You want somewhere quiet enough to hear each other, warm enough to feel like an occasion, and cheap enough that nobody spends the evening doing arithmetic. What you do not want is a room so formal that a lull in conversation becomes the loudest thing at the table.
The four places below all come out of reviewer language that keeps circling the same idea: good for a 소개팅, the Korean first meeting set up by a friend. Two of them are named for that purpose almost explicitly. The other two are a step more elevated while staying approachable. We have kept the honest caveats attached to each one, because on a first date the reservation policy and the noise level matter as much as the food.
1. Brett pizza
Brett Pizza (브렛피자) is a small wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzeria in a semi-basement space one minute from Sangsu Station (상수역), built on a loyal repeat-customer base and a reservation-recommended, date-friendly experience.
29-8 Wausan-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea | $$ | pizza
The lowest stakes option on this list, and the one reviewers reach for by name when they are describing a 소개팅. It is a wood-fired Neapolitan pizzeria a minute from Sangsu Station, set a half level below the street, with a bar counter facing the oven and a single row of hall tables. The room reads narrow, but plants at the window and fresh flowers on every table take the edge off it. Order the Margherita and let the printed card that comes with each dish do some of the early conversational work for you.
- Multiple reviewers independently call it quiet and explicitly good for a 소개팅 or a low key date.
- The dining room sits in a semi-basement level below street entry, with a bar counter facing the wood oven plus a single row of hall tables, described as narrow feeling but softened by plants at the window and fresh flowers on every table.
- Margherita (마르게리타) is the most consistently praised dish across reviewers: fresh, balanced tomato, basil and mozzarella, moist dough with a crisp cornicione, cited by multiple repeat visitors as the item that keeps them coming back.
- Every dish arrives with a printed description card covering ingredients and technique, a detail reviewers consistently call out as a nice touch.
Table spacing is tight, not private. Parking is essentially nonexistent; use public transit. Weekend evening slots fill quickly; reservations recommended.

2. uncorked
Uncorked (언코르크드) is a casual basement wine bar/bistro a two-minute walk from Anguk Station (Jongno-gu, Seoul), pairing a rotating wine list with Korean-fusion small plates, most notably a signature ragu tteokbokki, and positioning itself for dates, friend groups, and after-work drinks.
South Korea, Seoul, Jongno District, Anguk-dong, 138-2 동신빌딩 지하 1층 | $$ | bar
A basement wine bar two minutes from Anguk Station that reviewers frame outright as a 소개팅 room. It is one basement space with dark walls, soft spotlighting and framed art, closer to a small gallery than a bar, and reviewers describe it as romantic and intimate rather than loud or flashy. The food is built for sharing rather than for reverence: ragu tteokbokki and truffle cream gnocchi give you something to talk about without demanding your full attention. A rotating wine list means the ordering itself is a conversation.
- Reviewers explicitly frame the space as well suited to 소개팅, the Korean matchmaking meetup.
- The interior is a single basement room with a warm, gallery-like atmosphere of dark walls, soft spotlighting and framed art, which reviewers describe as romantic and intimate rather than loud or flashy.
- Ragu tteokbokki (라구 떡볶이), braised beef ragu over rice cakes with truffle oil and parmesan, is repeatedly called the must-order signature.
- Truffle cream gnocchi (트러플 크림 뇨끼), house-made potato gnocchi in truffle cream, is praised as rich and aromatic.
No windows or natural light; entirely basement atmosphere. Reservation lead time is not well documented in our research notes.

3. L'enfance
렁팡스 (L'enfance) is a small, third-floor French bistro in Seochon near Gyeongbokgung/Gwanghwamun that reviewers frame as an accessibly priced "semi-fine-dining" special-occasion spot rather than a formal fine-diner. It is repeatedly described as a Red Ribbon selection (2024 and 2025) and is referred to by several bloggers as "Michelin"-listed, with a stated concept of "어린 시절 (childhood): may it be a good memory for everyone".
36 Gyeonghuigung-gil, Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea | $$$ | french
If you want the evening to feel like it counts, this is the one. A small third-floor French bistro in Seochon, near Gyeongbokgung and Gwanghwamun, where one reviewer simply calls it Gwanghwamun's best date restaurant and notes that the room was almost entirely couples. The prevailing read on the atmosphere is wood-tone interior, soft lighting and quiet background music, sitting squarely between formal and casual, which is the register you want when neither of you knows yet how the night is going to go. Start with the endive and the mushroom pasta, the two most-ordered plates.
- A small, third-floor French bistro in Seochon near Gyeongbokgung and Gwanghwamun.
- One reviewer flatly calls it "Gwanghwamun's best date restaurant" and notes the room was almost entirely couples.
- The prevailing read on atmosphere is wood-tone interior, soft lighting and quiet background music: "not noisy, cozy, right in the middle between formal and casual".
- The 엔다이브 (Endive) and the 머쉬룸 파스타 (Mushroom Pasta) are the two most-ordered items and are broadly liked as bright, aromatic openers.
One dissenting reviewer found it loud when packed; noise depends on how full the room is. Booking is effectively required and should be done a few days to a week ahead. Sunday closed.

4. Le Boeuf Yeouido
Le Boeuf (르뵈프) is a value-driven French steakhouse on the 3rd floor of the aging Yeouido Jonghap Sangga commercial building (~70m from Yeouido Station Exit 5), run by a chef who came from the high-end Hannam-dong steakhouse Butcheli House; it trades on a genuinely cheap price for a full steak course. Since opening in June 2024 it has become a Yeouido landmark, nicknamed "여의도의 축복" (the blessing of Yeouido), and has spawned a Jamsil/Lotte World Mall sister branch, though its international footprint is near zero: a single 5.0 Tripadvisor review.
South Korea, Seoul, Yeongdeungpo District, Yeouinaru-ro, 42 여의도종합상가 326호 | $$ | french
The most generous room of the four. Tables are spaced widely enough that your conversation stays yours, and reviewers keep landing on the same word for the mood, 차분한, subdued, with sound and lighting deliberately kept low. The clientele skews couples, and the whole tone-and-manner is openly built for dates. What makes it work for a first one is the price of the ceremony: a dinner course of roughly 33,000 won that runs from brioche with fig butter through a 200g US-beef sirloin to cognac ice cream. Walk past the building's exterior without judging it.
- A value-driven French steakhouse on the 3rd floor of the aging Yeouido Jonghap Sangga commercial building.
- Tables are spaced generously, so conversations stay private and the mood is quiet and settled: reviewers repeatedly describe it as 차분한 (subdued), with sound and lighting kept deliberately low-key.
- The clientele skews couples and women, and the tone-and-manner is explicitly date and 소개팅 friendly.
- The draw is the roughly 33,000-won dinner course: brioche with fig butter, octopus pulpo, house or Caesar salad, a US-beef sirloin steak (200g), classic ragù lasagna, and cognac ice cream.
Weekday dinner requires a bottle order (wine: 2 people = 1 bottle minimum), which raises the effective bill beyond the headline course price. The building exterior is old and shabby, which can be jarring before you reach the 3rd floor. Closed Sundays.

All four rooms hold their noise down, which is the single most useful filter for a first meeting. Brett pizza and uncorked are the ones reviewers tag for a 소개팅 in so many words, so they are the safest defaults if you want the evening to stay light. L'enfance and Le Boeuf Yeouido raise the register a little without turning intimidating.
One planning note before you book Le Boeuf Yeouido: the weekday dinner bottle minimum is the caveat that matters most on a first date, since it assumes both of you are drinking. If that is a question mark, one of the other three is the easier call.
