Where to Eat With Friends Near Gangnam Station, Seoul
Gangnam Station has no shortage of places to feed a group. What it has less of is a clear answer to the question a group actually asks, which is where the night will go best given who is coming and what they want out of it. The four below are all grill houses within roughly a 4 to 11 minute walk of the station, and they are genuinely different rooms: one built to be quiet enough to talk in, one where the staff do all the grilling so nobody has to, one that is loud and close and made for drinking, and one a register up for a night that is also an occasion.
No date or headcount was attached to this question, so the booking advice here stays general rather than pretending to know your Friday. The caveats under each pick come straight from our research notes and are left as they are, including the ones about waits, inconsistent grills, and portion size.
1. Gogikkun Kim Chunbae Gangnam Branch
A charcoal-grill (참숯화로구이) beef-and-pork BBQ spot on the 3rd/4th floors of a building on Gangnam-daero 100-gil, positioned as a group/회식 (company-dinner) destination between Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon stations, known for letting diners order both beef and pork cuts in one set .

The pick for a table that came to talk. Gogikkun Kim Chunbae sits on the third and fourth floors of a building on Gangnam-daero 100-gil, between Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon stations, and it is the fourth floor that does the work here: the quieter, cleaner level, cut into partitioned seating with small booth and room areas. Reviewers keep reaching for the same contrast, a charcoal grill house that is calm rather than loud and chaotic. The kitchen lets a group order beef and pork cuts in one set, which settles the usual argument early, and there is no corkage, so a bottle someone brought is not a problem. Weekdays run 13:00 to 22:30 and weekends 12:30 to 22:00, with last orders an hour before close.
- The fourth floor is generally described as the quieter, cleaner, more private level, with partitioned seating and small booth and room areas.
- Multiple reviewers call the atmosphere quiet and well partitioned, explicitly contrasting it with loud, chaotic BBQ joints.
- Positioned as a group and 회식 (company dinner) destination between Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon stations, and known for letting diners order both beef and pork cuts in one set.
- Repeatedly recommended for company dinners and group meals, with private, partitioned seating and a corkage-free policy.
- Hours run 13:00 to 22:30 on weekdays and 12:30 to 22:00 on weekends, with last order at 21:30 and 21:00.
Reservations via Naver are close to essential at peak hours and weekends; walk-ins risk long waits. One 6-person table reported a single grill stretched the meal, so large parties should expect a slower pace. No on-site parking; nearby paid lots run 3,000-4,000 KRW per hour.

2. Damongjib Sinnonhyeon Main Branch
A staff-grilled Korean pork barbecue restaurant near Sinnonhyeon/Gangnam station, built around its own named specialty pork cuts (돈비너스살, 깍둑항정) and a full-service model where staff do all the grilling tableside .
2층, 13 Gangnam-daero 100-gil, Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea | $$ | korean, korean_barbecue
Nobody at this table touches the grill. Damongjib runs a full-service model where staff do all the grilling tableside, which is the difference between a group that talks and a group that takes turns watching pork. The house is built around its own named cuts, and for a first visit the set menus that bundle several of them are the standing recommendation. Space is the other reason it works: room seating for 4 to 12 and group seating for 4 to 20, a short walk from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6 in the back alley behind the CGV Gangnam branch. It stays open late enough on weekends to absorb a long night, though the hours here have moved around more than most, so confirm them the day you go.
- Staff do all the grilling tableside, so the group is not managing the fire.
- Set menus bundling several cuts (연목살, 항정살, 돈비너스살, 안창갈비, 삼겹살, 양념본갈비 in varying combinations) are the default recommendation for first-timers and groups.
- Room seating for 4 to 12 people and group seating for 4 to 20 people.
- 317 reviews and a 4.41 rating on Naver booking, with reservations available via Naver or Catch Table.
- 354m from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6, in the back alley of the CGV Gangnam branch.
Reservations are effectively required for Friday and weekend evenings; a 9-person queue at 9pm Friday is documented. Grill heat has been reported as inconsistent across visits. Operating hours have shifted significantly over time; confirm same-day hours before going.

3. Gangnam Gop
Gangnam Gop is a since-2009, six-consecutive-year Blue Ribbon Survey gopchang (grilled beef intestine) specialist tucked in an alley off Gangnam Station Exit 4, known for daily-butchered offal grilled to order across a two-floor dining room .
12 Yeoksam-ro 3-gil, Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea | $$ | korean
The loud one, and the closest to the station at about four minutes. Gangnam Gop has been grilling daily-butchered offal in an alley off Exit 4 since 2009, with six consecutive years in the Blue Ribbon Survey behind it, and it spreads across two floors of square tables and drum-can tables rather than squeezing into a cramped alley room. The atmosphere reads lively, which is the right answer for a drinking-forward night and the wrong one for a conversation you need to hear. Order the handmade garlic gopchang; the kitchen caps it at 30 servings a day and sells out. Hours run 16:00 to midnight Monday through Saturday and 14:00 to 23:00 on Sunday, and the staff work in Korean, English, and Japanese.
- Two floors of square tables and drum-can (드럼통) tables, a fairly large gopchang house rather than a cramped alley spot.
- The overall atmosphere is characterized as lively, consistent with a grill house that fills to capacity on weekday evenings.
- The consensus order is the handmade garlic gopchang (수제 마늘곱창, about 28,000 won a serving), capped at 30 servings a day and prone to selling out.
- Hours are Monday to Saturday 16:00 to 24:00 and Sunday 14:00 to 23:00.
- Reservations are accepted Monday to Wednesday between 16:00 and 18:30, and staff speak Korean, English, and Japanese.
Weekend reservations (Fri-Sun) are reportedly not accepted at all, so weekend gatherings are walk-in with expected waits. Recurring value complaints cite small portions for the roughly 30,000 KRW per serving price. Two separate service complaints in late 2025-2026 suggest inconsistent front-of-house execution.

4. Gwangpyung
Gwangpyung (김인복의 광평, formally "김인복의광평 강남직영점" -- the Gangnam-station direct-operated branch, distinct from the chef's Samseong-dong flagship) is chef Kim In-bok's Pyeongyang-naengmyeon-and-charcoal-grill house in Seocho, built around house-milled Jeju buckwheat noodles and Jeju black pork alongside hanwoo grilling . It has been selected for three consecutive years in a Blue Ribbon guide as of a 2026 post .

A register up from the other three, and the one to book when the gathering is also an occasion. Gwangpyung is chef Kim In-bok's Pyeongyang-naengmyeon-and-charcoal-grill house in Seocho, built on house-milled Jeju buckwheat noodles and Jeju black pork alongside hanwoo grilling, with three consecutive years in a Blue Ribbon guide as of a 2026 post. The room is clean and polished, evocative of Jeju, and it reads as easily for a group meeting or a company dinner as for a date. Staff grill everything at the table, and the abalone kimchi is the dish the table shares. The one thing to settle in advance is money: per-person spend here swings very widely depending on what you order.
- The interior is described as clean, polished, and evocative of Jeju, suited to dates, group meetings, and company dinners.
- Staff are repeatedly praised for grilling everything tableside so guests do not have to manage the fire themselves.
Larger private rooms may be shared with unrelated parties unless exclusivity is explicitly requested when booking through CatchTable. Evening room bookings require grilled items; a food-only evening room visit incurs a separate 50,000 KRW room surcharge. Per-person spend varies widely from 10,000-20,000 KRW to 100,000+ KRW depending on order, so set budget expectations with the group.

If the evening is about conversation, take Gogikkun Kim Chunbae and ask for the fourth floor. If nobody wants to work the grill, Damongjib does it for you and has the room seating to match. If the point is volume and drinking, Gangnam Gop is the closest to the station and the liveliest room of the four. If the gathering is also an occasion, Gwangpyung is the step up, with the budget question settled before you order.
On booking: for a Friday or weekend evening, reserve Damongjib or Gogikkun Kim Chunbae ahead and treat Gangnam Gop as a walk-in plan, since it reportedly takes no weekend reservations at all. On a weekday all four are easy. If the gathering falls in the week around Chuseok, check Gangnam Gop's hours before you commit, since it shows holiday closures on 9/24 and 9/25.
