Gangnam Restaurants for a Promotion Celebration Dinner

A promotion dinner is a harder booking than it looks. The occasion is celebratory, but the table is rarely purely social. It usually holds some combination of the person being congratulated, the person paying, and a few people quietly noting how the evening was handled, and the room has to work for all of them at once.

Gangnam is the obvious place to hold one, and these are the four rooms our research notes keep returning to for this exact night. They span Korean court-style course cuisine, modern Cantonese, and contemporary French, and all four sit at the top of the price band. Two are built to absorb a group, whether that group is your team or your family. Two are Michelin-starred rooms better suited to marking the news with one other person.

Book early either way. Two of the four are inside Josun Palace, and one of those is among the hardest reservations in Seoul.

1. Bloom in the Palace Seolleung

Bloom in the Palace Seolleung (동화고옥 선릉점) is an upscale Korean course-cuisine (한정식) restaurant on the 14th floor of a tower by Seolleung Station in Yeoksam, serving royal-cuisine-inspired lunch (오찬) and dinner (만찬) courses built around 12-ingredient marinated Hanwoo galbi, at roughly 60,000 won for lunch up to 130,000 won per person for the top dinner course . It is one branch of the Donghwa Go-ok chain (other locations include Lotte World Mall, Samsung, Seoul Station, Gwanggyo), which is a recognized destination for 상견례 (family introduction meals), family gatherings, and corporate entertaining .

If the promotion dinner includes your boss, your team, or your parents, this is the least risky room on the list. Fourteen floors up in a tower by Seolleung Station, it serves royal-cuisine-inspired Korean course menus built around 12-ingredient marinated Hanwoo galbi, and reviewers cite it as a strong yes for both business dinners and milestone family meals. The cooking is premium without being adventurous, which is exactly what you want when the guest list is not entirely yours to choose. Lunch runs from roughly 60,000 won, and the top dinner course reaches about 130,000 won per person.

  • Cited specifically as a strong yes for business dinners, 회식 (company dinners), and 접대 (client entertaining), with booth partitions, a quiet room, and premium but uncontroversial food.
  • Milestone family meals, 상견례 (family introduction meals) and parents' birthdays among them, are the most common use case in our research notes.
  • Signature dishes include yangnyeong marinated hanwoo galbi, the mokseok-chohwa one-bite platter, abalone sul-jjim, and donghwa goldongmyeon.

Dining is in booth partitions rather than fully enclosed private rooms

더 그레이트 홍연 (The Great Hong Yuan) is the Josun Palace hotel's flagship modern Cantonese fine-dining Chinese restaurant on the 36th floor in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam, known for its city-skyline dining room, dim sum, and a much-discussed 57,000-KRW truffle jjajangmyeon .

The Josun Palace's flagship modern Cantonese room sits 36 floors up in Yeoksam with the city skyline on the other side of the glass. Rooms here are marketed for business dining and the restaurant has a long record of hosting family celebrations, which makes it forgiving of a mixed guest list. It also hands the table something to talk about: Peking duck, and the much-discussed truffle jjajangmyeon at 57,000 won.

  • A four-person business dinner is a yes, with rooms explicitly marketed with business packages that include a mobile TV or projector and notepads.
  • Family celebrations are a yes, including 돌잔치 (first birthdays), 상견례 (marriage meetings), and 60th to 70th birthdays, repeatedly used and reviewed for exactly those occasions.
  • Signature dishes include Peking duck, crispy shrimp changfun, truffle beef jjajangmyeon, Hongju sweet and sour pork, and Buddha Jumps Over the Wall.

Eatanic Garden is a 1-Michelin-star, no-printed-menu Korean tasting-menu restaurant on the 36th floor of the Josun Palace hotel in Gangnam, built around chef Son Jong-won's illustrated-ingredient-card storytelling format and a skyline view over Seoul . It has become one of the hardest reservations in Seoul since chef Son's rise as a TV cooking-competition personality, with reviewers now calling it "arguably the most talked-about restaurant in Korea right now" .

Same building, same floor, an entirely different evening. Eatanic Garden is a one-Michelin-star Korean tasting menu with no printed menu, built around chef Son Jong-won's illustrated ingredient cards and a skyline view over Seoul, and since his rise as a television cooking-competition personality it has become one of the hardest reservations in the city. Its best fit is two people rather than a department, so take it if you are marking the promotion with a partner. Cake lettering and a photo service are offered for celebrations.

  • Earned its first Michelin star in the 2023 guide and has retained it through the 2024 to 2026 guides, and debuted on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants at number 25 in 2025.
  • A two-person date or anniversary is the restaurant's best-fit use case, with cake lettering and photo service offered for celebrations.
  • Panoramic Gangnam and Seoul skyline views from the 36th floor of Josun Palace.
  • Signature dishes include the mother-of-pearl box dessert, deconstructed samgyetang, caviar and warm tofu, pumpkin porridge with caviar, and the jujeonbori snack trio.

Restaurant Allen is a 2-Michelin-star contemporary French tasting-menu restaurant in Gangnam's Center Field EAST building, run by chef Seo Hyun-min (Allen Suh), who previously led the similarly 2-starred L'Impression before opening his own room in 2021; the kitchen builds French technique on seasonal, largely domestic Korean ingredients, with a tasting menu that changes roughly every three months.

Two Michelin stars, contemporary French, and the most polished service of the four. Chef Seo Hyun-min (Allen Suh) came from the similarly two-starred L'Impression and opened his own room in 2021, setting French technique on seasonal, largely domestic Korean ingredients with a tasting menu that turns over roughly every three months. A wine-literate reviewer called the format perfect for client entertaining and for hosting elders, and singled out the warmth of the service, which is the useful signal if the promotion dinner involves people you want to impress quietly rather than loudly. The makgeolli-yeast sourdough bread is the standout.

  • Two Michelin stars for a contemporary French tasting menu in Gangnam's Center Field EAST building.
  • A wine-literate reviewer who dined at a four-top round table on a weekday called the format perfect for client entertaining and for hosting elders, citing the restrained reinterpretation of familiar Korean flavors and flawless service.
  • Michelin's own inspector note singles out the makgeolli-yeast sourdough bread as a standout.

No private room is described in the corpus The protein course is a recurring weak spot Filtered or sparkling water is charged by default unless tap water is explicitly requested

The split is clean enough to decide from. Bloom in the Palace Seolleung and The Great Hong Yuan are the picks when the table is a group: both are repeatedly used for business dinners and family celebrations, and neither makes a production out of the occasion. Eatanic Garden and Restaurant Allen are the Michelin-starred rooms, and they reward a smaller, more deliberate dinner.

Whichever way you go, reserve well ahead. All four sit at the top of the Gangnam price band, and Eatanic Garden in particular is very hard to secure.
