Where to Book a Year-End Party for a Group in Gangnam
December in Seoul belongs to the year-end dinner, and in Gangnam the hard part is almost never the food. It is the room. Twenty people need a door that closes or a hall wide enough that the far end of the table can still hear a toast, a kitchen warned in advance that a crowd is coming, and a clear answer on whether the bottle someone is bringing will cost corkage. Those are phone-call questions, and in December the answer comes back no if you ask them late.
So we went looking for Gangnam rooms that are built for the headcount rather than merely willing to absorb it. Below are four places our notes show running private rooms, group floors, or full-venue hire, spread across Samseong, Yeoksam, Gangnam Station, and Cheongdam. Two are the classic charcoal hanwoo option, one narrows to a single cut and rents the whole floor, and one is a four-floor dining bar for the party that has outgrown a grill table.
1. samseong korean bbq ihwaok
Ihwaok Samseong Main Branch (이화옥 삼성본점) is an upscale-casual hanwoo-and-hanwoo-pork BBQ house a short walk from COEX/Samseong Station, where the owner hand-selects the meat and it is grilled over charcoal, positioned by locals as "the best meat restaurant near COEX." It runs a broad menu that spans premium beef sets, pork special cuts, and full Korean lunch dishes, making it a year-round office-worker, family, and group-dinner spot rather than a special-occasion-only steakhouse.

A calm, upscale-casual hanwoo BBQ house a short walk from COEX and Samseong Station, with more than 100 seats, private rooms, and full-venue hire on the table. The owner hand-selects the meat, it goes over charcoal, and the staff work the grill for you, which is what you want when the point of the evening is colleagues talking rather than someone tending tongs. The room is widely spaced and stays low on smoke. Order the Hanwoo Special set and add the signature bomb steamed-egg custard: it is the proven crowd-pleaser for a year-end table.
- More than 100 seats, private rooms, and full-venue hire are available for large groups.
- Staff grill most of the meat for guests, swap the grill plates between cuts, and manage the fire.
- The Hanwoo Special set covers deungsim, galbisal, chadolbaegi, and yukhoe, and reviewers repeatedly single out the bomb steamed-egg custard as a must-add.
Premium pricing: a two-person dinner runs roughly 100,000 KRW and the beef set is around 120,000 KRW. Evening demand is real; reserve a day or a few days ahead for prime dinner slots. A large share of coverage carries sponsored markers; quality is consistently praised but the value framing is mixed.

2. Bau
Bau (바우한우, Bau Hanwoo) is a Korean-beef-and-pork-galbi grill house tucked in the alleys behind Seolleung Station in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam: a decade-old, no-break-time neighborhood workhorse built for business dinners and company outings rather than destination dining .

The practical booking on this list. Bau is a decade-old grill house in the alleys behind Seolleung Station, built for business dinners and company outings rather than destination dining, and its three private rooms are the ones guests specifically recommend for hoesik and group gatherings. Corkage is free and the glasses are set up for you, which settles the question of what to do with the bottle someone brings to mark the year. Pork king galbi and hanwoo sirloin and rib meat carry the menu, there is parking in the building, and the kitchen runs with no break time.
- Three private rooms line one wall, and guests point to them as the quiet alternative to the main hall for conversation-heavy dinners.
- Corkage is free with complimentary glass setup, called out repeatedly as a differentiator versus other Gangnam grill houses.
- The restaurant runs continuously, with no break time.
No source states the exact seat count per private room, so room capacity should be confirmed when booking. Weekday dinner peak leaves the main hall packed; private rooms are the quieter option. Grilling is mostly self-serve after the initial sear.

3. 모범갈빗살 강남역본점
모범갈빗살 강남역본점 is a single-focus Hanwoo rib-finger (특갈빗살) house near Gangnam / Sinnonhyeon Station, opened in 2017 as the second brand of the long-running sirloin specialist 명인등심, that debones Andong-sourced 짝갈비 in-store and sells it by the 100g . It is positioned as value-premium Hanwoo built for gatherings and 회식: corkage-free, same-building parking, and Blue Ribbon Survey listing are its headline hooks .

One cut, taken seriously. This is a single-focus hanwoo rib-finger house near Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon stations, opened in 2017 as the second brand of a long-running sirloin specialist, and the meat is deboned in-store from Andong short rib racks and sold by the 100g. For a group it is the easiest room to take over: second-floor group seating, and whole-venue hire up to 40 seats for one party, arranged by phone. Corkage is free, parking is in the same building, and the Blue Ribbon Survey listing does the reassurance work when you are booking for colleagues.
- Second-floor group seating and whole-venue hire for up to 40 seats for a single party, arranged by phone.
- The venue is corkage-free and offers same-building parking.
- The signature hanwoo rib finger is deboned in-store from Andong 1+ to 1++ short rib racks and sold per 100g.
Only the rib finger is grilled; this is a specialist stop, not a mixed-cut BBQ. Much community coverage is promotional Naver blog content with review incentives, so critical voices are thin. Price has drifted upward, from 24,000 to 27,000 KRW per 100g between 2022 and 2026, and price is its weakest sub-score.

4. People the Terrace
People the Terrace (피플더테라스) is a 4-floor, roughly 300-pyeong (~990㎡) European-mansion-themed dining bar in Cheongdam, positioned as Seoul's largest single dining bar with capacity for up to 500-600 guests, built around fusion Italian food, signature cocktails, and a fountain-centered main hall . It functions simultaneously as a dinner restaurant, a cocktail/wine bar, and a party-rental venue, with a strong reputation as a Cheongdam-Apgujeong "hot place" and celebrity-birthday-party spot .

If the year-end party is supposed to feel like a party rather than a dinner, this is the scale play. Four floors and roughly 300 pyeong of European-mansion styling in Cheongdam, positioned as Seoul's largest single dining bar, with capacity for 500 to 600 guests and multiple private rooms to break the crowd into. The kitchen runs fusion Italian instead of charcoal and tongs, the bar runs signature cocktails, and the main hall is arranged around a fountain, which is a more photogenic backdrop than a grill table. The uni cold pasta and the Iberico pork collar steak are the dishes people keep naming.
- Four floors and roughly 300 pyeong (about 990 square meters) of European-mansion dining bar, positioned as Seoul's largest single dining bar, with capacity for 500 to 600 guests.
- Private rooms include a birthday zone bookable for 50,000 KRW, a second-floor Blue Room for 4 to 8 guests (10 or more for groups), and a third-floor penthouse requiring a 1,000,000 KRW minimum spend.
- The uni cold pasta and the Iberico pork collar steak are repeatedly called standout dishes.
Corkage is not allowed; private-room or whole-venue rental is the alternative. Weekend nights lean toward a lively bar and DJ atmosphere; for a quieter business dinner, book a weekday or a private room. Monday closure is confirmed; last order is 01:00 and there is no lunch service.

The pattern across all four is that the reservation is for a room, not a table, and the room is the part nobody documents online. Bau does not publish a seat count per private room, and full-venue hire at Mobum Galbisal is arranged by phone, so confirm your headcount out loud rather than assuming it fits. Corkage is the other split worth checking before you invite anyone: free at Bau and at Mobum Galbisal, not allowed at People the Terrace, where a private room or a venue rental is the alternative. And if the date is fixed, book early. Prime dinner slots at Ihwaok want a few days of notice in a normal month, and December is not a normal month.
